Welcome to Your Spanish Place!

Thank you for taking interest in learning Spanish. I believe learning Spanish should take on a natural approach similar to how you and I learned our first language.  I also believe that being in the US, being bilingual is very powerful for various reasons. About

My name is Marisol Vega

Hola!

I was born to Mexican parents and spoke only Spanish at home growing up. I began learning English in school when I was in 3rd grade. I developed a love for the Spanish language and look forward to sharing that with others.

Summer Session

The summer session has been kicked off. Take a look at the themes for this summer. It's never too late to join! Taking a natural approach to Spanish made learning feel less like a school lesson and much more natural.

En Casa

While at home

El Jardín

The garden

I want...I want...is what we parents constantly hear from our kids. Learning the verb 'querer' helps the kids begin speaking in a way that is relatable to them. They will learn that it's ok to say some words in English. Encouraging bilingualism by mixing both languages to effectively communicate as they start in their Spanish journey. Mamá, yo quiero something to drink.

There are so many beautiful flowers and bugs kids love while being outside. For this lesson let's learn the verb 'gustar'. What do you like about nature? Having the kids use the verb gustar to communicate their likes and dislikes. Me gusta the flowers. No me gusta bees. Speed round outside! Every lesson we have a speed round where the kids have seconds to find items matching the color said in Spanish. How fast can you find flores amarillas.

El Almuerzo

Lunch time

After running around outside kids are normally ready to eat! What a great way to continue to reinforce the verb 'Querer' and 'Gustar'. Manners are very important and in this lesson kids will learn the verb 'Dar'. Kids will learn to politely ask to be given what they need during el almuerzo. Porfavor, dame the carrots.

Fin del día

End of day

As parents, we remind our kids to go shower, go brush your teeth, or simply go get ready for bed. The verb 'Ir'. This verb is one of the most frequently used verbs in Spanish and using it in a natural way for the kids as they get ready to wrap up their day is a great way to introduce it. Reinforcing that they do not need to know all words in Spanish to communicate effectively.

Porfavor, ve a brush tus dientes.
